LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Claire DeBoer has been named the 5th Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week after leading the women's basketball team to a 59-51 win over Cornell in the team's home opener on Saturday.
DeBoer posted a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds as the Bison improved to 3-2 with the win over the Big Red. She also tallied 15 rebounds in a loss to Youngstown State on Tuesday, matching her career high in both games last week. DeBoer has picked up where she left off last season when she was voted the Patriot League Rookie of the Year, ranking second in the conference in rebounding (10.0 rpg).
DeBoer was a perfect 7-for-7 from the foul line against Cornell and is 13-for-14 on the season. She is tied for first in the Patriot League in free throw percentage. The Bison also lead the conference as a team, shooting 60-of-77 (.779) from the line.
Bucknell returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Morgan State at Sojka Pavilion. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip.
