DelMauro and Maurer Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell junior RB Matt DelMauro (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) and senior K/P Derek Maurer (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) were named to the Capital One Academic All-District II Football Team on Thursday. Both veterans will now move on to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
Bucknell last had an Academic All-District selection in 2011 when Tim Bolte was recognized. The last time two Bison were honored was 2010 when Bolte and Travis Nissley were cited.
DelMauro is a key reserve running back on the Bison squad that is now 7-1 this year and 3-0 in Patriot League play. He is second on the team with 318 rushing yards on 71 carries. He also has six receptions for 60 yards and has scored a total of four touchdowns.
DelMauro enters Friday's game against No. 9 Fordham with 805 rushing yards in his three-year Bison career.
Off the field, DelMauro is an accounting and financial management major who is a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. He is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and has been on the Dean's List during his time at Bucknell. DelMauro has participated in Derby Days, a fundraiser for Children's Hospital, and is part of the CHAMP mentoring program. He has also been part of leadership programs with Ernst & Young and KPMG.
Named a semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy earlier this fall, Maurer is a managing for sustainability major with a grade-point average just a tick under 4.0. This past summer he worked with teammate Trey Lauletta on developing a student consulting firm that connects Bucknell's student body to community organizations. He is also a member of the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership's Business Innovation Committee.
An active member of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and a student interviewer on a search committee for faculty positions in Bucknell's School of Management, Maurer was a member of the Academic All-Patriot League Team in 2013 and is a three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member.
Maurer was recently the hero for the Bison, kicking the game-winning field goal in a 27-24 overtime victory over Lafayette. He is third on the team with 41 points this season and has connected on 6 of 8 field goals and 23 of 28 extra points. Maurer has also handled kickoff and punting duties all season for Bucknell.
DelMauro and Maurer will be in action Friday evening when the Bison host Fordham at 6:30 p.m. at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
