LEWISBURG, Pa. – Coming off a record-breaking weekend, Bucknell junior Emma Levendoski (Mandeville, La./Mandeville) was named both the Patriot League Female Swimmer of the Week and the Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday. The four-time Patriot League champion swept the 100 and 200 backstroke events at the Bucknell Invitational and broke her own school records in the process.
Levendoski entered the weekend with school records in both backstroke events and she lowered them both significantly with a pair of NCAA “B” cuts. Her time of 53.53 in the finals of the 100 back trimmed .62 off her previous best from last year's Patriot League Championships, while her prelim time of 1:54.48 in the 200 back took 2.08 seconds faster than her previous mark.
Levendoski won the two backstroke races by a combined 6.55 seconds, touching the wall 4.24 ahead of the runner-up in the 200 back and 2.31 in the 100 back. She has now swept the backstroke events in four of five meets this year.
In addition to her success in the backstrokes, Levendoski scored in the 50 free, finishing 17th. She was also part of four relays, two of which had top-three finishes in their races.
Levendoski is now a five-time winner of the Patriot League Female Swimmer of the Week Award and a two-time Bison Athlete of the Week. She was not the only Bison to set a school record over the weekend as Julianna Foss set new standards in the 100 and 200 fly, Diana Hanson had a record in the 100 breast and men's swimmer Chris Devlin set a new mark in the 200 back. Foss' time in the 100 fly eclipsed the program's oldest record that had been held by Bucknell Athletics Hall of Famer Margaret Grunow since 1993.
Bucknell will be idle this coming weekend before returning to dual meet action Dec. 6 vs. Colgate at Kinney Natatorium.
