ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Grant Curry and Stefan Aleksic scored two goals apiece in the fourth quarter and Bucknell outscored George Washington 5-1 in the final period to post a 10-7 comeback victory over the Colonials Saturday afternoon at the CWPA Championship. The win moves the Bison to Sunday's 1 p.m. fifth-place game against Johns Hopkins. Bucknell has finished in the top five at the CWPA Championship in 10 straight years.
On Saturday, the Bison trailed the Colonials 6-5 entering the fourth quarter, but Jeff Hagen evened the score on the first possession of the period. Curry then followed with back-to-back goals. After Ridvan Pehlivan cut the Bucknell lead to one, Aleksic found the back of the net twice to cement the Bison's third win over the Colonials this season.
It was a close game throughout as there were six ties and neither team led by more than one goal until the Bison scored three straight to open the final quarter.
Curry led the way for Bucknell with three goals, while Aleksic and Nick Hale posted two apiece. Aleksic also had a pair of assists.
Keegan Williams stopped six shot in goal for the fourth-seeded and 13th-ranked Bison, who improved to 16-9 on the season.
With a win on Sunday, Bucknell will finish a season with single-digit losses for the first time since 1985, the last time it made an NCAA appearance.
