Volleyball Posts Convincing 3-0 Win Over Loyola in PL Finale

LEWISBURG, Pa. – A dominating first set that ended with Bucknell on top 25-6 set the tone in a 3-0 Bison win over Loyola (Md.) in volleyball action Friday evening at Davis Gym. The match closed out the Patriot League schedule for Bucknell, which is now 6-18 overall and 5-11 in the Patriot League.
The Bison hit a solid .316 in the match, including .423 in that first set that featured runs of 10-0 and 7-0. The 8-0 run came when Bucknell's lone senior, Kadri Lutter, was serving and pushed the score from 13-4 to 21-4. Lutter finished the match with two digs and three service aces.
Hailey Stout posted a double-double for the Bison, totaling 12 kills and 10 digs. Erika Eastley was very efficient with seven kills in 10 attempts with no errors, while Karen Campbell posted nine kills. Meghan Wentzel registered 32 assists in the win, including 12 in the final set.
Loyola (2-26, 0-15 PL) committed 23 errors in the match, compared to just five for Bucknell. The Bison also posted nine service aces, including three by Eastley.
The second set was much closer than the first as Bucknell trailed 8-6 early, but a 5-0 Bison run made it 15-10 and the Greyhounds never got closer than two points the rest of the way.
The third set was tied as late as 11-11 before the Bison virtually clinched the match with an 8-2 run, including four straight points with Hana Sawanobori serving.
Bucknell will wrap up its 2014 season Saturday afternoon with a non-league contest against NJIT at 4 p.m. The match will air on Bison Vision and Lutter will be honored prior to the match during Senior Day ceremonies.
