
Men's Water Polo Posts Two More Wins Over Ranked Teams to Stretch Winning Streak to Five

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Bucknell men's water polo team defeated a pair of ranked opponents on Saturday during the second day of the Santa Clara Rodeo to stretch its winning streak to a season-high five games. The Bison opened the day with a 9-7 win over No. 13 Air Force and followed with a 13-10 triumph over No. 19 Cal Baptist.
Bucknell (10-6), which now has six wins over ranked foes this season, is 6-1 in its last seven games and 7-2 in its last nine.
Stefan Aleksic (3 goals, 6 assists), Sean Daley (4 goals, 2 assists) and Grant Curry (4 goals, 2 assists) had among the more productive days offensively for the Bison. Keegan Williams posted a total of 17 saves in goal, bringing his career total to 398.
Curry scored a team-high three goals in the opener against the Falcons, while Daley and R.J. Moored added two goals apiece. The two teams entered the fourth quarter with the scored tied 7-7, but the Bison scored the only two goals in the final period to clinch the victory.
In the nightcap, Jeff Hagen tallied a team-high three goals. Nate Hunter, Aleksic, Nick Hale and Daley had two goals apiece as Bucknell equaled its second-highest scoring output of the season. The Bison led 7-5 at halftime and posted four more goals in the third quarter to open a four-goal advantage.
Bucknell will wrap up its five-game trip to California Sunday when it takes on No. 12 UC Davis at 1:40 p.m. Eastern and unranked Fresno Pacific at 5:40 p.m. The Bison are 3-0 so far this weekend thanks to a win over No. 15 Santa Clara on Friday evening.
