LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell freshman Christine Bendzinski (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) has been named the Patriot League Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday. It is the second time the Bison runner has earned the award this season.
Bendzinski helped Bucknell to a fifth-place finish out of 35 teams at the Princeton Invitational. In an event that included a nationally-ranked team, a team receiving votes in the national poll, and a total of 278 runners, the first-year Bison runner took 32nd with a time of 22:27.
Bendzinski and fellow Bucknell freshman Brennan Sharkey combined for five Patriot League Rookie of the Week Awards this season. The Bison earned the award following all but one of the weeks they had a race scheduled.
The Bison, winners of four invitationals this season, will have this weekend off as they prepare for the Patriot League Championships, which will be hosted by Lehigh University on Saturday, Nov. 1.
