LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell freshman RJ Moore (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) was named the Collegiate Water Polo Association Co-Rookie of the Week on Wednesday, the conference office announced. He shared the honor with Matt Fraser of Johns Hopkins.
The first Bison to earn Rookie of the Week honors since current sophomore Stefan Aleksic last Sept. 4, Moore started all three games at this past weekend's Navy Invite and totaled seven goals and two assists. He had a standout second game when he scored six goals and dished out one assist in a 17-8 victory over Gannon. The six goals were the most by a Bison over the course of the opening weekend of the season.
The only Bucknell freshman to start a game, Moore is second on the team in goals and tied for first with nine points.
In addition to beating Gannon, the Bison defeated Notre Dame (Ohio) 15-14 and Iona 12-7. Additionally, Bucknell downed Mt. San Antonio by a 20-7 margin in an exhibition contest.
The Bison, who are off to a third consecutive 3-0 start to a season, will host the Bison Invite this weekend in Kinney Natatorium. A total of 16 games will be played in a span of less than 48 hours. Bucknell will play Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 12:30 and 5:30, and Sunday at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Both of Saturday's games and Sunday afternoon's contest will have live video broadcasts available via Bison Vision on the Patriot League Network.
