LEWISBURG, Pa. - Former Bucknell women's basketball player Lindsay Horbatuck (Avon, Conn./Avon) has signed a professional contract with Haskovo 2012 in Bulgaria. Horbatuck graduated this spring after leading the team with 10.5 rebounds per game and also averaging 7.7 points in her final campaign with the Bison.
Horbatuck finished her career with 15 double-doubles and became known for her tenacity and rebounding on the court. The forward graduated with the second-highest single-season rebounding total in program history, totaling 325 boards last winter. That average also ranked 30th nationally, while her 10.5 rebounds per game in Patriot League action was nearly two more per game than any other player. During her four years in the Orange & Blue, Horbatuck totaled 805 boards, ranking sixth all-time at Bucknell.
Following her senior season, Horbatuck received a number of honors. Last winter, she was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team for her success in the classroom as an elementary education major. She also received the John F. Zeller Award, presented "to the senior student-athlete for outstanding contributions to Bison Athletics, while exemplifying the best of Bucknell in the manner that John Zeller did in his 68 years of service to the university" at the Annual Senior Athletic Banquet.
Horbatuck is the latest in a string of recent Bucknell graduates to play professionally and the first since Hope Foster, who closed out her collegiate career in 2008.
Bucknell finished the 2012-13 season with a 15-16 record overall and went 5-9 in the Patriot League. The Bison closed out the year by advancing to the conference tournament semifinals after upsetting No. 3 American in the quarterfinals.
