LEWISBURG, Pa. - A program-record 11 Bucknell women's rowing student-athletes were named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athletes, it was announced Tuesday. Margo Boyd, Emily Gladstone, Annie Goldman, Kathleen Hickes, Kumari Lewis, Sarah Riessen, Julia Steen, Elizabeth Aigler, Adrian Edmonds, Jennifer Fish and Ashley Rooney were the 11 Bison cited. Aigler, Edmonds, Fish and Rooney were recognized as lightweight rowers.
The CRCA recognized student-athletes who are at least sophomore standing, have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 and have been members of the institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boats for a minimum of 75% of the spring season.
Bucknell has now had 57 rowers earn CRCA National Scholar-Athlete honors since 2007. The previous high for the program in any season was 10 honorees in 2011 and 2012.
Gladstone and Aigler were each cited by the CRCA for a third consecutive year, while Goldman, Riessen and Steen were named National Scholar-Athletes for a second time.
Riessen adds Tuesday's academic honor to last week's First Team All-Patriot League citation. She was a member of the varsity eight at the Patriot League Championship.
Bucknell finished in second place to Navy at this year's Patriot League Championship, snapping a string of seven consecutive team titles. The Bison varsity four won its race, while the varsity eight earned a silver medal and the second varsity eight was in third place.
Bucknell's lightweight eight is scheduled to wrap up the 2013 season for the Bison women's rowing program at this weekend's IRA National Championship Regatta in Sacramento, Calif. Bucknell won the event in 2007 and has finished in the top five each of the last six years.
