Keller, Webster Open NCAA East Prelims for Bucknell Men's Track & Field

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Bucknell men's track and field kicked off the NCAA East Preliminaries at North Carolina A&T on Thursday and both Bison in action placed higher than their seed. Kevin Keller finished 24th in the long jump while Luke Webster took 36th in the discus. Bucknell continues competition tomorrow with Christian Lupica in the 110-meter hurdles.
Keller entered Thursday's meet ranked 37th in the region. Competing his first career regional preliminary, the sophomore cleared 22-7 in the long jump on his first attempt of the day. That stood as his best mark and ultimately placed him 24th in the field.
Webster also improved slightly on his seed. The senior was seeded 38th in the discus in the East and ultimately took 36th with a distance of 157-8.
With neither Bison finishing in the top 12, they will not advance to the NCAA Championships. A senior, Webster completes his career with the school record in the discus (172-3).
When action resumes tomorrow, Lupica will compete in his first race of the prelims. The sophomore's hurdle race is set for a 5:30 p.m. start.
