Bucknell's Jessee, Holmes Named All-East to Conclude ECAC/IC4A Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. - Bucknell track and field wrapped up the IC4A and ECAC Championships with Ray Holmes and Katie Jessee earning All-East honors in Princeton, N.J., on Sunday. At the end of the three-day meet, the Bison had claimed five All-East accolades. The men finished 12th in the team standings while the women tied for 46th.
Holmes placed eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 48-6 ¼. He was the fourth Bison on the men's team to be named All-East this spring, joining Michael McGowan (10,000m), Leonard Joseph (hammer throw) and Kevin Keller (long jump).
Jessee was the only Bison on the women's side to earn All-East accolades. The sophomore placed sixth in the 3,000 meters, running 10:25.62.
Also in action on Sunday were Bucknell's throwers. Sophia Nnadi was ninth in the shot put with a career-best 45-10. That improved her own third-ranked mark in program history. The freshman is just over a foot off the school record held by Chelsey Musante at 46-10 ¼.
Stephen Koullias led the Bison men in the shot put. The senior threw 49-2 ¼ in his final collegiate meet, placing 29th. Jack Fellows followed in 33rd with a mark of 48-5 ½.
As a team, the Bucknell men totaled 22 points for their 12th-place finish. Cornell (68 points) led the men's field of 48 teams. The women finished with three points, tying them for 46th out of 54 teams that scored. Connecticut (73) took the women's title.
Bucknell's next competition will be the NCAA East Preliminaries in Greensboro, N.C., May 23-25. To qualify, athletes must be among the top 48 declared athletes in the region in their respective event. At the last report, Christian Lupica (110 hurdles), Tyler Erhard (steeplechase), Robert Yamnicky (steeplechase), Keller (long jump), Holmes (triple jump), Luke Webster (discus) and Joseph (hammer, discus) were all ranked among the top 60 in the East.
