Bucknell Women's Tennis Falls 4-0 to Navy in Patriot League Semifinals

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Bucknell women's tennis ran up against a tough Navy opponent, falling 4-0 in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals at West Point, N.Y., on Saturday afternoon. The third-seeded Bison were unable to take a set off the No. 2 Midshipmen in any of the completed matches as they finished their season at 10-12 overall.
It was the second time this season that Navy swept Bucknell. The results in both the regular season and the tournament were similar. On Saturday, the Mids defeated Jen Bush and Elizabeth Morgan 8-1 at third doubles and Lydia Colvin and Stephanie Pino 8-2 at the No. 2 spot to take the early team lead.
Play continued to go in Navy's favor in singles action. Bush fell to Logan Antill 6-3, 6-1 at fourth singles, while Colvin dropped her decision 6-4, 6-0 to Darien Sears at No. 2. The deciding match came at the No. 5 slot as Christie Schneider lost 6-2, 6-1 to Stefanie Ton.
Although their matches went unfinished because Navy had already secured the win, Elena Vidrascu and Pino were both doing their best to stage a comeback. Vidrascu had dropped the first set to Emani Decquir 6-0 but was leading 5-0 in the second when the match was called. Pino was down 3-6, 4-3 to Katie Porter at sixth singles at the end of the day.
Bucknell's 2012-13 schedule has come to a close, but Navy will continue tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the Patriot League Championship match. The Midshipmen will be playing Army for their first title.
