Bucknell Women's Lacrosse to Celebrate Senior Day Saturday vs. Holy Cross on Bison Vision

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bucknell women's lacrosse team has won two of its last three games, and now the Bison continue a four-game homestand on Saturday as Holy Cross visits Graham Field for the final Patriot League contest of the season. The 1 p.m. start will be preceded by Senior Day festivities, and it will be webcast live on Bison Vision.
Bison seniors Madison Hurwitz, Adrienne Wendling and Ryan Wenk will all be recognized prior to Saturday's game. All three seniors are starters and are having excellent seasons. Hurwitz scored a career-high seven goals in Tuesday's 17-9 rout of St. Bonaventure, and she leads the team in assists (13) and ranks second in both goals (21) and points (34). Wenk (17-6-23) is third on the squad in both goals and points, and Wendling (8-4-12) leads the team in ground balls (24) and draw controls (35). She picked up a career-high seven ground balls in the win over the Bonnies.
Now 3-11 on the season, the Bison have fared very well in draw controls in 2013. Bucknell has won 175 draws to their opponents' 169. Wendling and Sophie Kleinert both have 35 DCs, while Katelyn Miller has 32.
Miller collected five goals and four assists for a career-high nine points in the win over St. Bonaventure. She continues to lead the team in goals (30) and points (40), and she ranks eighth in the Patriot League in points per game.
The Bison will be facing a Holy Cross team that is 6-8 overall and 2-2 in the Patriot League. The Crusaders sit in a three-way tie with Lafayette and Colgate in the Patriot League standings, two games behind co-leaders Navy and American.
Holy Cross fell to Navy 15-5 last Saturday, but then bounced back with a good 17-12 mid-week win over Harvard. Laura Ryan scored five goals and Taylor Zebrowski had four goals and three assists in the win over the Crimson.
Zebrowski is the team's top point-producer with 38 on 27 goals and 11 assists. Ryan and Sara Hennessey both have 29 goals and five assists, and Kat Sutton has 24 goals and three helpers. Sarah Weber has started all 14 games in goal and has a .363 save percentage.
Hennessey (7) and Ryan (6) combined for 13 goals in Holy Cross' 20-5 win over the Bison in Worcester, Mass. Bucknell leads the all-time series 13-11, including an 8-4 mark in games played in Lewisburg. Bucknell's last series win was a 12-11 thriller at Graham Field in 2009.
Following the Holy Cross game, Bucknell will play twice more in 2013. The Bison host Saint Francis (Pa.) on Apr. 16 and visit Marist on Apr. 20.
