LEXINGTON, Ky. - Practices, press conferences and preparation filled Wednesday for the Bucknell men's basketball team, which is seeded 11th in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament and will be facing sixth-seeded Butler Thursday at 12:40 p.m. at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky. The game will air on TruTV.
Bucknell's trip began on Tuesday evening when a large gathering of supporters cheered on the departing Bison prior to their bus ride to Williamsport. Bucknell's traveling party, which includes the pep band and cheerleaders, boarded a chartered flight and landed in Lexington a short while later.
After a night of rest, the team held a 90-minute practice session at Kentucky's practice facility. The squad then bused a few blocks to Rupp Arena. Team captains Bryson Johnson, Mike Muscala and Joe Willman, as well as head coach Dave Paulsen, participated in a formal press conference. A number of media members also interviewed players and staff during the open locker room session.
Following the media availability, Bucknell took the Rupp Arena floor for a 40-minute practice that was open to the public. A number of shooting drills followed as the players got acquainted with the surroundings.
The team had a film session Wednesday afternoon and will spend Wednesday night resting and going through final preparations for Thursday's contest, the second one to tip off in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
