Bucknell Women's Water Polo Ends Layoff with 13-9 Loss to Harvard

ERIE, Pa. –Stephanie Ovalle and Krystle Morgan tallied two goals apiece for Bucknell, but Harvard outscored the Bison 8-4 in the second half to defeat the Bucknell women's water polo team 13-9 Saturday afternoon at Mercyhurst's North East Aquatic Center. The game was the first in nearly two weeks for the Bison, who fell to 3-3 overall and 1-1 against CWPA Southern Division foes.
Harvard, which defeated Bucknell for the seventh consecutive time, won its fourth straight game this season and improved to 9-4 on the year.
The score was tied 5-5 at halftime, but the Crimson outscored the Bison 4-3 in the third quarter and then 4-1 in the fourth en route to the victory.
Seven different Bison registered goals as Julianne Valdes, Mackenzie Ferry, Tara Murao, Hannah Sunday and Barbara Peterson each found the back of the net once. The Bucknell starting lineup contributed eight of the team's nine scores.
Rena Heim posted 10 saves in cage for the Bison. It marked her fourth double-figure save game this season.
Bucknell will wrap up its two-game weekend Sunday morning with another CWPA Southern Division game against George Washington. The Bison dropped a 10-9 decision to the Colonials two weeks ago in Kinney Natatorium.
