Bucknell Tied for Patriot League Presidents' Cup Lead

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Regular-season and conference titles by the men's basketball team and top-three finishes at the conference meets by all four Bison track & field and swimming & diving programs has helped Bucknell climb into a tie for first place in the Patriot League Presidents' Cup standings following the winter season. The Bison, who were in fourth place after the fall, have 68 points and are tied with Navy. Bucknell ranks second in both the Men's and Women's Cup standings.
Bucknell, which is aiming for its 18th Presidents' Cup in the 23-year history of the league, received 40.25 points from its winter teams.
Patriot League Presidents' Cup points are awarded based on a team's performance in the regular season and postseason Patriot League standings. In cross country, golf, rowing, swimming and diving and track and field, the points are awarded based on the final team standing at the Patriot League Championship. Points for football are awarded based on regular-season standings.
Behind Bucknell and Navy in the overall Cup standings are Lehigh (61.25), Colgate (57), Army (56.25), American (49), Lafayette (42.25) and Holy Cross (34).
The Bison are just one point behind first-place Lehigh in the men's standings and 5.5 behind Navy in the women's standings.
Bucknell in 2011-12 finished third in the final Presidents' Cup standings behind Navy and Lehigh.
