Old Dominion Tops Bucknell Women's Tennis, 4-0

HUMACAO, PUERTO RICO – Bucknell women's tennis ran up against a tough Old Dominion team, falling by a score of 4-0 in Humacao, Puerto Rico, on Tuesday afternoon. The Bison (2-6) have one more match remaining on their Spring Break trip to the island, a meeting with Minnesota State on Thursday, set for 8:30 a.m.
Bucknell was unable to get on the board in the abbreviated match that went to Old Dominion after the Monarchs earned the deciding fourth point. Old Dominion won two doubles matches, 8-2 and 8-0, to take the early lead.
Singles action was similarly difficult for the Bison. Of the three matches that finished, only Elena Vidrascu won more than one game against her opponent. The Bucknell junior fell 6-3, 6-0 to Diana Ivanova at the No. 1 position.
Maria Cioffi saw her brief winning streak come to an end. After winning in three sets against LIU Brooklyn yesterday, the freshman came up short against Nikol Hristova at No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 loss. Stephanie Pino also finished her match at No. 5 singles, dropping the 6-0, 6-0 decision to Nika Khmolovska.
Bucknell has now dropped each of its last three matches. The Bison will face Minnesota State for the first time in program history on Thursday.
