Bucknell Women's Water Polo Returns to Action this Weekend Against League Opponents Harvard and George Washington

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's water polo team will embark on its second weekend of games in 2013 this weekend when it takes on league opponents Harvard and George Washington at Mercyhurst's North East Aquatic Center. The Bison will face Harvard Saturday at 3 p.m. and George Washington Sunday at 9 a.m.
Bucknell's (3-2, 1-0 CWPA Southern Division) only games this year came at the Bison Invitational Feb. 15-17. The Bison defeated Mercyhurst, Brown and Villanova and lost to George Washington and Marist.
Among the highlights of Bucknell's opening weekend was the offensive production of freshman Hannah Sunday, who tallied a team-high 13 goals. Junior co-captain Julianne Valdes also reached double figures with 10 goals and she reached the 200-point plateau for her career. Fellow co-captain Krystle Morgan scored nine goals and reached 100 points for her career.
Junior goalie Rena Heim has 49 saves this season, boosting her career total to 451. She ranks fourth in program history in stops.
Bucknell will play a five-game league schedule this year. The Bison's other conference contests will be April 6-7 against Mercyhurst and Princeton at Princeton's DeNunzio Pool.
Following this weekend, the Bison will head to California for an 11-game Spring Break trip.
