Bucknell Men's Tennis Takes 7-0 Loss at Nationally Ranked Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – Bucknell men's tennis ran up against a tough No. 65 Princeton squad, falling 7-0 at Jadwin Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon. The Bison head into their Spring Break trip and the final stretch before the start of Patriot League play with a 4-3 record on the year.
Some of the most closely contested matches on the day came at doubles, but all of them went Princeton's (5-3) way. Augie Bloom and Matt Siow defeated Nick Bybel and Josh Katten, 8-5, at the top of the lineup, while Michael Lin and Ben Quazzo were winners by an identical score over Octavio Canibe and Aidan Lynch at the No. 3 spot. Kelly Morque and Evan Zimmer suffered a similar fate, falling 8-6 to Zack McCourt and Matt Spindler at second doubles.
Kyle Rosen put up a battle in singles, giving Bucknell its best look at the No. 6 position. The Bison junior dropped the first set to Mohamed El Tonbari 6-1 before evening things up with a 6-4 win in the second. That forced the match to a super tie break, but it was El Tonbari who came out on top in the end, 10-5.
Zimmer was one of the last ones to get off the court as well with a 6-3, 6-4 loss at No. 3 singles to Augie Bloom. Canibe battled at the No. 5 spot as well, just missing out on a first-set victory against Jonathan Carcione. Carcione ended up sealing the deal, however, 7-5, 6-0.
Bucknell's next matches will come in sunny Puerto Rico in a few weeks time. The Bison will face Puerto Rico-Mayguez (March 11), Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras (March 12) and Florida A&M (March 14) in Humucao, Puerto Rico, during their annual Spring Break trip.
