LEWISBURG, Pa. -
After winning the mile at the Patriot League Indoor Track & Field Championships and earning a trio of all-league citations, Bucknell's Caroline Tolli collected yet another honor on Monday, taking the title of the Bison Athlete of the Week. The senior totaled 26 points in three events for Bucknell, leading the Bison to a 15th Patriot League indoor title in program history.Tolli, who has now been named the Bison Athlete of the Week twice this year, earned her second Patriot League title in as many years last weekend when she won the mile in 5:02.48. That put her on the All-Patriot League First Team.
She was also added to the second team in the 1,000 meters and as a member of the 4x800 relay before her meet was over. The runner-up finish in the 1,000 came with a time of 2:56.44. She later anchored the relay to a second-place finish as well in 9:04.07. That now ranks as the eight-fastest time in program history.
Tolli is no stranger to the program top-10 lists. Earlier this winter, she became the school record holder in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:50.88 for the win at the Youngstown State National Invitational. She is also fourth all-time in the 800 (2:13.17) and sixth in the mile (4:58.62) as well as holding multiple spots on the program ledger in the 4x800 (sixth, eighth) and distance medley relays (fourth, 10th).
While Tolli's performance at the Patriot League Championships was one of Bucknell's top individual outings of the weekend, the Bison also defended their title as a team. Bucknell topped Navy for a second consecutive year with 162 points, 52 ahead of the Midshipmen. The Bison now have 15 Patriot League indoor titles, more than any other team in league history.
Joining Tolli on the All-Patriot League First Team were fellow event winners Olivia Massey (long jump), Sophia Nnadi (shot put), Alexandra Romanelli (triple jump) and Jennifer Zymet (500m).
Bucknell will return to action March 1-3 for the ECAC Championships in Boston.
