Bucknell Women's Tennis Rebounds for 5-2 Win at St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. – Bucknell women's tennis snapped a three-match losing streak and got back in the wins column with a 5-2 victory over St. Bonaventure on Sunday at Olean, N.Y. Among the two-time winners in the weekend finale were Lydia Colvin and Stephanie Pino.
The Bison (2-3) cruised through doubles play. The closest match came at the No. 2 position where Colvin and Pino teamed up to defeat Riley Archer and Kathryn Kvas by a score of 8-4. Maria Cioffi and Elena Vidrascu allowed just one game to Fatya Amiri and Marissa Brossard, winning at first doubles, 8-1. St. Bonaventure defaulted in the third match.
The Bonnies also defaulted at No. 6 singles, but the extra player likely would not have made a difference. The Bison collected three straight victories, clinching on Pino's 6-0, 6-0 win over Jillian Hammell at the fifth spot in the lineup. It was the second straight singles win for the Bucknell freshman.
Jen Bush and Colvin both got back on the winning side of things after falling in their singles matches yesterday at Niagara. Bush was the first off the court, defeating Archer 6-1, 6-1. Colvin then handed Kvas her second loss of the day, 6-2, 6-2.
St. Bonaventure earned its only two points at the top of the lineup, but Cioffi and Vidrascu did not let them off that easily. Cioffi forced Brossard into a super tie break before falling 5-7, 6-2, (10-4). While Vidrascu's match ended in two sets, it was still the last to finish. Amiri came out with the 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 1.
Bucknell's win over St. Bonaventure on Sunday was quite the turnaround from the last time the two teams met. The 2012 match went in favor of the Bonnies by a score of 7-0 as only one doubles match went to the Bison. Bucknell now has an 11-2 series lead all-time over St. Bonaventure.
Bucknell will be back in action for a single match next weekend. The Bison take on Hofstra on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Quakertown, Pa.
