Trip to Oklahoma Up for Bison Wrestling this Weekend

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Coming off one of its biggest wins in recent memory, the Bucknell wrestling team will have even bigger challenges ahead this weekend. The Bison, who posted a one-point victory at No. 22 Lehigh last Saturday, will be traveling to Oklahoma to face No. 3 Oklahoma State (3 p.m. Eastern) and No. 5 Oklahoma (8 p.m. Eastern) this Sunday.
Bucknell (2-1, 1-0 EIWA) won over the Mountain Hawks for the first time in 10 meetings and will be looking for its first victories against its two Oklahoma opponents. The Bison are 0-3 all-time against Oklahoma State, while they are 0-1 against Oklahoma.
Bucknell's win over Lehigh marked its first over a ranked opponent since defeating No. 25 Columbia in February 2007.
While Oklahoma State and Oklahoma feature a combined 16 ranked wrestlers in their probable lineups, Bucknell 285-pounder Joe Stolfi is the only Bison to show up in the national rankings this week. The junior who came one win shy of All-America honors last March, is ranked ninth nationally by Amateur Wrestling News. Stolfi is a perfect 3-0 this year with all three victories earning bonus points for Bucknell.
Sophomore Paul Petrov (2-0 at 125) and senior Stephen McPeek (3-0 at 174) are also undefeated for the young Bison, who are expected to start four freshmen and two sophomores on Sunday.
Sunday's Oklahoma State match will have live video available via okstate.com, while the Oklahoma match will air on SoonerSports.tv.
Bucknell will be back in action next Saturday, Nov. 23, when it competes at the Navy Classic. The Bison have participated in the tournament-style event every year since 2006-07.
