Women's Rowing Opens 2013-14 Competition Schedule with Bucknell Fall Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. (Susquehanna River) – The Bison women's rowing team kicked off its 2013-14 competition schedule on an unseasonably warm Saturday on the Susquehanna River by hosting Drexel and Lehigh as part of the Bucknell Fall Invitational. The event focused on giving the Bison freshmen a chance to experience their first collegiate race.

A total of seven Bucknell boats competed on Saturday, including two freshman eights, which consisted of experienced freshmen who rowed in high school, and two novice eights, which featured student-athletes who began their rowing careers last month.

Bucknell's varsity eight, second varsity eight and third varsity four also got on the water for the event that featured a total of 12 women's boats and 13 men's boats as the Bucknell men's club-varsity crew was also part of the busy day of racing.

The Bison are not currently scheduled to compete again this fall, but their spring season will kick off with the 18^th Annual Erg Armageddon on March 1 and home scrimmages against Georgetown (March 22) and Grand Valley State (March 23).
