Men's Water Polo Completes First Round of League Play Sunday at Princeton

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's water polo team will complete the first round of CWPA Southern Division play this Sunday when it travels to Princeton for a 1 p.m. game against the No. 13 Tigers. The Bison opened league play two weeks ago and posted a 1-2 record, defeating Navy and dropping close decisions to George Washington and Johns Hopkins.

Bucknell (6-3, 1-2 CWPA) was idle last weekend and is scheduled to play all four league opponents at home next weekend. Princeton (10-3, 3-0 CWPA), which has climbed to as high as No. 11 in the national rankings this year, played its previous seven games in California.

Sunday's meeting will mark the 78th time Bucknell and Princeton have faced each other. The Tigers own a 44-33 edge in the series, but the Bison have a 3-2 advantage over the last five contests, including a 7-6 victory at last year's Eastern Championship. Bucknell's last win over Princeton at DeNunzio Pool was in 2011.

Jack Else leads the Bison this year with 22 goals, while Julian Colina has 19 and Stefan Aleksic has 16. Aleksic's 30 points lead the squad.

Alex Nowlin, who has dished out nine assists this season, now has 127 in his four-year career, putting him in a tie for 10^th place with Garrin Kapecki on the program's all-time list. Nowlin enters Sunday's contest just 11 goals shy of 100 for his career. Else (147 goals) is the only other current Bison to reach the century mark, though Mike Kimble is just six away from joining the exclusive club and Colina's 89 career scores match Nowlin.

The Tigers will be the first ranked opponent for the Bison this year.

Bucknell will return home next weekend for four league games. The Bison will host Navy and George Washington on Saturday, Oct. 12, and will then conclude league play Sunday, Oct. 13, against Johns Hopkins and Princeton. Sunday's contests will have a free live video broadcast via Bison Vision on the Patriot League Network.
