Bucknell Women's Swimming and Diving Defeats Lehigh, 184-102

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Sophomore Lauren Perrywon three events and posted the No. 10 time in school history in the 100-yard butterfly to lead the Bucknell women's swimming and diving team to a 184-102 victory over Lehigh Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium. The Bison won 11 events before swimming the 400 IM and 400 free relay as exhibitions.
Perry had a banner day as she claimed the 100 free, 200 free and 100 fly. Her time of 1 minute, 51.45 seconds in the 200 free was just .11 seconds shy of her own school record and helped her win the event by a whopping 3.96 seconds. Perry won the 100 free by .80 seconds over second-place Emily Wright as Bucknell went 1-2-3 in the event with Kaitlyn Utkewicz finishing third. Finally, Perry won the 100 fly in 57.65, moving her into 10th place in program history, one spot ahead of Lauren Mosler. It was just the third time this season Perry swam the 100 fly.
Perry also swam the leadoff leg of the 400 free relay that posted the fastest time despite swimming exhibition.
Emma Levendoski (100 back, 200 back) and Emily Norton(100 breast, 200 breast) were Bucknell's other double winners on the day. Levendoski captured her two races by a combined 3.73 seconds.
Levendoski was also part of the winning 200 medley relay squad that also featured Morgan Oxley, Elizabeth Porcellioand Wright.
Kelly Pontecorvorounded out the list of Bison winners in the pool as she touched the wall first in the 1,000 free. She later finished second in the 500 free.
Sophomores Tara Boyle (one meter) and Katie Hetherington(three meter) split the diving boards as Lehigh did not have a diving entrant. Boyle's one-meter score of 251.18 was a career best and kept her in the No. 5 spot on the school's all-time list.
Bucknell's 10 individual victories, not including exhibition swims, were distributed mainly to the younger classes as freshmen posted two wins, sophomores seven and the junior class one.
Prior to the meet 11 Bison seniors were honored during Senior Day festivities. On the women's side, Lisa Bolle, Anna Griest, Morgan Oxley, Elizabeth Porcellio, Kelly Purcell and Marisa Taddeo were recognized, while Mike Davitt, Billy Krause, Matthew Stevens, Bryce Suchomel and Christian Treatwere honored on the men's side.
Bucknell will wrap up its regular season next Saturday, Feb. 2, when it hosts the Bison Invite. The start time of the event has been adjusted to 10 a.m.
