Mike Muscala Wins Another Patriot League Player of Week Award

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell men's basketball center Mike Muscala (Roseville, Minn./Roseville) won his fourth Anaconda Patriot League Player of the Week Award of the season on Monday after he turned in yet another stellar performance in the Bison's 76-55 victory over Army in Saturday's league opener.
Muscala was needed for only 26 minutes in Bucknell's runaway victory, but he still managed 20 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and three blocked shots. He was on triple-double pace for most of the night before he departed for good with 7:38 left in the game with the Bison leading by 23 points.
Even though he fell just short of what could have been the program's very first triple-double, he did record his 11th double-double of the season and the 35th of his career. Muscala went 10-for-10 from the foul line against Army, and his seven assists tied his career high.
For the season, Muscala is averaging 19.4 points and 11.0 rebounds per game - he is the only player in the nation averaging at least 19 and 11 - and he also leads the Bison in assists (50) and blocked shots (43). Muscala and Princeton's Ian Hummer are the only two Division I players leading his team in points, rebounds, assists and blocks.
Muscala is now tied for the national lead in double-doubles, and he ranks eighth in Division I in rebounding, 24th in scoring and 25th in blocked shots.
After the Army game, Muscala now has 902 career rebounds, making him only the fourth player in Bucknell history and the second in Patriot League history to reach the 900 plateau. Adonal Foyle was the only other Patriot Leaguer to top that milestone, while Hal Danzig, Bob Barry and Craig Greenwood are other only other Bison to do it. Barry was the most recent, all the way back in 1980.
This is Muscala's second straight Player of the Week citation and the eighth of his career.
Bucknell is now 14-3 overall and 1-0 in the Patriot League. The 14-3 record is tied for the second-best mark after 17 games in program history. The Bison will put that record on the line on Wednesday when they travel to Colgate for a 7 p.m. contest.
