LEWISBURG, Pa. – Rain limited the Bucknell Quad to doubles action on Saturday, but Bison women's tennis tried to make the most of the opportunities they did have, sending Maria Cioffi and Stephanie Pino to the championship round. The freshman duo claimed the runner-up position in their first collegiate tournament.
Cioffi and Pino had the unenviable task of facing their own teammates in the semifinals. The duo defeated Elena Vidrascu and Lydia Colvin in a close 8-6 decision to advance to the championship. Cioffi and Pino had a tougher time with Loyola's Megan Hahn and Olivia Ott, falling 8-1.
In the consolation bracket, Jen Bush and Alyssa McAndrew moved to the final round as well. Their opponents in both matches were also from Loyola. The Bison tandem's win came 8-3 over Gabriella DeCarvalho and Meredith Dwyer, but the Greyhounds' Haleigh Morgus and Emily Hughes had the 8-5 win in the last match of the day.
The Bucknell Quad will conclude tomorrow with singles action. All semifinal and final matches are scheduled to be completed.
