Though I would not have admitted this a month ago, I was just as nervous for college as I was excited. I was worried about meeting new people, new coaches, and cold weather. I packed my warmest clothes (hoodies and sweatpants) and left my Sarasota, Florida, dwelling to make Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, my new home. As soon as I settled into my dorm room, I was immediately put at ease as I could sense how genuinely friendly and helpful everyone is here. First-year orientation was both exciting and exhausting (in a good way), and further expedited my acclimation to a new place. Before I knew it, classes and practice had started.
Getting into the swing of things was surprisingly easy; with the help of Google Calendar and my student-athlete planner, I quickly developed my own system to managing my time. As busy as I am with classes, studying, and crew, I still have time to take a nap and relax everyday.
To my excitement, I got to row a single on the first water day. I had sculled a good amount in high school, but here we get to scull almost exclusively in the fall which is great because I love sculling! I'm super excited to race at the Head of the Schuylkill, as I've never been there before.
So far, so good at Bucknell University. I love my classes, new friends, and the rowing program here. All that being said, I still need to get some warm clothes!
