League Play Commences this Weekend for Bucknell Men's Water Polo

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's water polo team will begin league play this weekend. The Bison, who are on the road for a fourth consecutive weekend to start the season, will play three league games in a span of just 21 hours. They open with a 2 p.m. game Saturday at No. 17 Navy. Just a few hours later they will play at George Washington (7:30 p.m.). The weekend wraps up Sunday at 11 a.m. at Johns Hopkins.
Two of the weekend's three games will have live online video broadcasts. The contests at George Washington and Johns Hopkins will be available for viewing.
Bucknell Men's Water Polo Notebook (4-5, 0-0 CWPA)
Bucknell is coming off a 1-2 record and a fourth-place finish at the North-South Tournament at Harvard. The Bison defeated the host Crimson, but fell to nationally ranked foes St. Francis (N.Y.) and Princeton.
Bucknell is 4-0 vs. unranked opponents this year.
Bucknell has outscored opponents 48-38 in the first halves of games, but is being outscored 54-52 in the second half.
Jack Else (85g, 18a) crossed the 100-point plateau for his career last weekend at the North-South Tournament. The junior became the third Bison with 100 career points, joining Brian Barron (169) and Alex Nowlin (142).
Mike Kimble posted five goals against Princeton last weekend, equaling the most by a Bison this year (Jack Else vs. Notre Dame College). It was a career-high figure for the junior who now leads the team with 19 goals this season. He registered 24 goals all of last year.
Alex Nowlin enters the weekend with 91 assists in his three-year career. The junior is just 36 assists shy of joining the program's top-10 list.
Center combo Jack Else and Mike Kimble have combined to draw 30 of Bucknell's 56 ejections this year. Else leads the team with 20 ejections drawn, while Kimble has 10. Else is now tied with Alex Lampley for fifth on the program's career list with 125.
Bucknell finished with a 5-3 record in CWPA Southern Division play a year ago. The Bison will play eight of their next 11 games against league foes.

Bucknell will open its home schedule when it hosts the Bison Invitational Sept. 29-30 in Kinney Natatorium. A total of 12 games will be played, including four by Bucknell, during the two-day event.
