
Bucknell Men's Water Polo Opens North-South Tournament with 11-3 Win Over Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –Alex Nowlin scored two goals and dished out three assists for a team-high five points to lead the Bucknell men's water polo team to an 11-3 victory over Harvard in its first game at this weekend's North-South Tournament. The Bison improved to 4-3 on the season and advanced to the semifinals of the eight-team tournament, where they will play No. 20 St. Francis (N.Y.) at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Nick Hale, Andrew Somers and Brian Barron contributed two goals apiece to the scoring column, giving Bucknell four players with multi-goal outings.
The Bison led 6-0 at halftime and cruised to the eight-goal victory. Goalie Matt Napleton registered 10 saves as he kept the Crimson scoreless for more than 16 minutes to begin the game. He also added three steals, tying Brian Barron for the team lead.
Nowlin's five-point game helped him take over the team lead in points from Aleksic. Nowlin now has 26 points, while Aleksic's three points (2g, 1a) brought his season figure to 25.
Bucknell, which has won two games in a row and is now 4-0 opposite unranked foes, will try to advance to the championship game when it takes on St. Francis later Saturday evening.
