Dulac Leads Bucknell Women's Cross Country at Bison Open

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Glen Williams (Landenberg, Pa./Kennett) earned his first career victory and Maddie Dulac (Baltimore, Md./McDonough) led the Orange and Blue on the women's side as Bucknell cross country kicked off its 2012 season with the Bison Open at West Fields on Friday evening. Williams had a commanding lead over the rest of the field, finishing in 15:09, nearly 20 seconds ahead of his closest challenger. Dulac was fourth overall in 18:26.
Both Williams and Bloomsburg's Victoria Davis, who won the women's race, cruised to their first-place finishes on the three-mile course. With his time of 15:09, Williams easily topped his teammate Robert Yamnicky (Shelton, Conn./Shelton), who as second in 15:24. Brian Charland (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) helped Bucknell complete the 1-2-3 sweep with a time of 15:28.
While Davis took a smooth 14-second win on the women's side, Bucknell showed its strength in numbers. Dulac was fourth overall in 18:26, but just one second behind her was fellow Bison Justine Schnell (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Highlands). Schnell was sixth in 18:27. Paige Lommerin (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley) (18:46) and Zoe Gaston (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) (18:51) were seventh and ninth, respectively, and Nora Adams (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) gave Bucknell another top-10 finisher in 18:56.
Bucknell will race again tomorrow morning. The team's top varsity runners will compete at Colgate's Harry Lang Invitational in Hamilton, N.Y. The meet will preview the Patriot League Championship course for when Colgate hosts the conference showdown in late October.
