LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Billy Eisenreich (Chatham, N.J./Chatham), a two-time First Team All-Patriot League men's lacrosse player, received a special award at the University's annual Senior Athletic Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Bison Club and held in the Terrace Room on campus on Tuesday.
Eisenreich won the Ronald J. "Pete" Pedrick Award, presented in recognition of demonstrated improvement and special contributions to Bucknell athletics over a four-year period. Eisenreich shared the award with cross country/track & field standout Emily Liggett and record-setting defensive back Bryce Robertson.
In addition to Eisenreich, Liggett and Robertson, several other student-athletes were honored at the banquet, including the winners of the Christy Mathewson Award, given to the most outstanding athletes in the senior class. Four-time All-Patriot League cross country star Stephanie Fulmer along with eight-time Patriot League track & field champion Robert Arent were this year's winners.
Eisenreich has enjoyed a monster 2012 season that culminated in his second straight First Team All-Patriot League selection. He was also recently picked as one of 25 nominees for the Tewaaraton Trophy, presented to the player of the year in college lacrosse.
Eisenreich recorded three goals in Bucknell's Patriot League Tournament loss to Colgate over the weekend, giving him 34 goals and 32 assists for 66 points on the season. He ranks in the top-10 nationally in both points and assists per game, and he currently one of only two players in all of Division I lacrosse with 30 goals and 30 assists this season. Eisenreich is just the third player in program history to accomplish the 30-30 milestone, and he became the seventh Bison to record 60 points in a season. His 66 points are now tied for fourth-most in Bucknell's single-season list.
Eisenreich was named to the Tewaaraton Trophy watch list early this season, and he backed up that distinction with some big performances. He tied a school record by racking up 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists) in a 17-10 win over a good Robert Morris team on March 28. Eisenreich logged three goals and three assists against a Massachusetts team that is still undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the nation, and he posted two goals and five assists in a big road victory over Navy. He has at least one goal and at least two points in every game this season.
