Tim Bolte Receives Senior Athletic Award at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Tim Bolte (Towson, Md./Loyola Blakefield), a member of the Bison football team, received a special award at the University's annual Senior Athletic Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Bison Club and held at the Elaine Langone Center on Tuesday, May 1.
Bolte won the Alvin F. Jackson Jr. Memorial Scholar-Athlete Award, presented to senior athletes "who through his/her actions has demonstrated outstanding academic and athletic achievement and future promise as Bucknell alumni." Bolte shared the award with Jillian O'Mara of the women's rowing team, who was the female selection.
In addition to Bolte, several other student-athletes were honored at the banquet, including the winners of the Christy Mathewson Award, given to the most outstanding athletes in the senior class.
Bolte earned several impressive accolades during his senior year as a Bison. He became Bucknell's 121st CoSIDA Academic All-American, was a CoSIDA Academic All-District II selection, was named to the FCS Athletic Directors Association Academic All-Star Team and was the recipient of the Patriot League Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. Additionally, Bolte was a semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy.
A four-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member and a two-time member of the Academic All-Patriot League Football Team, Bolte owns a 3.91 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in East Asian Studies (Chinese) and political science. He is a seven-time member of the Bucknell Dean's List and earned a 4.0 GPA three straight semesters entering his senior year.
Off the field, Bolte has spent time as a tutor at Cristo Ray Jesuit High School in Baltimore, serves on the executive board of Phi Gamma Delta and is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and Phi Sigma Alpha Honor Society. In addition to a full academic schedule, Bolte wrote a publication through the Bucknell Institute of Public Policy titled "Islam and Democracy: Testing the Micro-Level Foundations".
Bolte, who plans on attending law school, completed an internship at BDP International in Shanghai, China. While there, he held American culture and English proficiency classes after work for those in the company who wanted to improve their English and learn more about the United States.
A two-year starter at linebacker who earned the Bucknell Football Leadership Award and the Bobby Pangburn Memorial Award at the team's annual postseason banquet last December, Bolte ranked second on the Bison with a career-high 64 tackles last season, boosting his career total to 142. He started the final 22 games of his career and finished his senior season with nine tackles for loss, two sacks, five passes defended, one interception, two forced fumbles and a pair of fumble recoveries.
Bolte moved into a starting role for the first time as a junior and finished second on the team with a then-career high 57 tackles.
Bucknell is a highly selective, privately endowed liberal arts institution with an enrollment of approximately 3,500 undergraduate students. Bucknell competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the Patriot League and has full membership along with American, Army, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy. Bucknell has won the Presidents' Cup, signifying the Patriot League's all-sports champion, in 17 of 21 years, including 13 of the last 14.
