
Bucknell Women's Tennis Falls in Patriot League Match to Colgate

LEWISBURG, Pa. – On a sunny, slightly breezy afternoon the Bucknell women's tennis team (2-14, 0-2 PL) hosted Colgate (6-11, 2-2 PL) in Patriot League action. The Raiders invaded the Varsity Tennis Courts and snatched a 4-3 victory over the Bison.
Dumitrita Iepuras and Lydia Colvin won their No. 2 doubles match over Kelsey Shea and Kelsey Wahainen, 8-5. Colgate had already clinched the team point as Colvin and Iepuras were the last pair to finish doubles play.
The Bison jumped out to early leads in several singles matches. Dumitrita Iepuras started strong with a first set 3-2 lead over Raiders captain Alex Petrini. The two battled through several long rallies in their bout but Iepuras ended up winning the set and the No. 1 singles match, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2.
Vidrascu held an early 4-3 lead in her first set in the No. 3 singles match. Vidrascu won the contest over Stephanie Brown in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
Colvin also moved quickly to take a 3-2 lead against sophomore Kelsey Shea. Shea prevailed in the long run winning by the score of 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.
Bucknell freshman Christie Schneider won her match over Meredith Rock in the No. 5 slot. Schneider picked up her first win of the spring, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6.
Bucknell will hit the courts again tomorrow when they play host to George Mason at 11 a.m. at the Varsity Tennis Courts.
