Bison Men's Tennis Wins Final Home Match 4-3 Over Robert Morris

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis team (8-13) closed out its final home match of the season with a hard-fought 4-3 win over Robert Morris (2-14) on Senior Day. On Wednesday afternoon the Bison recognized senior captains Gregg Cohenca and Gregory Maxson, with Maxson earning the key win to clinch the victory for Bucknell.
The Bison started the afternoon losing the team doubles point for just the first time in six matches. Evan Zimmer and Josh Katten managed to collect a win at the No. 2 position for Bucknell. The duo continued their impressive run as doubles partners picking up their ninth straight victory over Jose Limon and Ricardo Horlle, 8-1.
In singles play, the Colonials won two back-and-forth three-set matches to bring them to within one point of beating Bucknell. The Bison ultimately won four of six singles matches for the win.
Junior Kelly Morque defeated Andre Corio at the No. 3 slot in his own three-set battle by the score of 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Also picking up wins for the Bison were Jonathan DeFrancesch at No. 4 over Tarun Kishan, 6-4, 6-2 and Chris Tortora at No. 6 over Liran Braun, 6-0, 6-1.
The script was written for senior captain Maxson as he won his No. 5 bout over Horlle to seal the victory for the Bison. Maxson pulled out the win in straight sets against Horlle, 6-4, 6-3. Maxson is now 10-5 in singles play during the spring.
The Bison will play again at Bloomsburg in their regular-season finale next Wednesday at 4 p.m.
