LEWISBURG, Pa. - Hannah Lindgren (Doylestown, Pa./Germantown Academy), a first-year member of the Bucknell women's rowing team, has been invited to participate in the USRowing National Team Freshman Camp. The camp will be held at the University of Washington June 11-17 and will feature a talented group of 20 rowers and four coxswains.
Lindgren has had a strong rookie year with the Bison. She is a member of the varsity eight, typically occupying the No. 3 seat. The varsity eight is coming off a second-place finish at the Knecht Cup and a victory over Drexel in a home race the weekend before. Additionally, Lindgren's boat finished fourth at the Occoquan Sprints and sixth at the Murphy Cup this spring.
"Hannah is a very strong athlete and novice (first-year) rower," said Bucknell 16th-year head coach Stephen Kish. "She is making significant improvements every week and it shows in our results. She is one of two freshmen who have earned a seat in the varsity eight, along with Amanda Chikowski in the stroke seat. Together, they are doing a great job representing the Class of 2015."
Lindgren is a Doylestown, Pa., native that ran track and cross country at Germantown Academy. She is one of only two Patriot League rowers, along with MIT's Erin Meyer, to earn spots in the Freshman Camp.
The Freshman Camp is designed for athletes with elite-level potential and aspirations, but who have only one or two years of collegiate rowing experience. The goal is to expose the athletes to the National Team experience, training two to three times per day, row in all boat categories, learn technical and physiological basics, and train with athletes of a similar caliber.
Lindgren and her Bison teammates are idle this coming weekend, but will return to action April 28-29 when they compete at the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Championship and the Patriot League Championship.
