
Bucknell Men's Tennis Falls in Patriot League Matchup to Army, 5-2

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Bucknell men's tennis team traveled to West Point, N.Y., Thursday afternoon to take on Patriot League opponent Army (13-9, 4-0 PL). The Bison ended up being defeated by the Black Knights, 5-2. Army now sits tied atop the conference standings with Navy at 4-0. Bucknell is now 6-12 overall and has fallen to 1-2 in the Patriot League.
The Bison jumped out to an early lead over the Black Knights by taking the first two doubles matches of the afternoon. Evan Zimmer and Josh Katten were first to finish their doubles contest as they beat Alex Van Veltzer and Peter Sienko 9-7 at the No. 2 slot. The Bucknell duo has now won six consecutive matches.
Gregg Cohenca and Aiden Lynch beat Asika Isoh and Henry Jang-Milsten in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-5). It was a highly contested No. 1 doubles match that the Bucknell duo ended up winning for their third straight victory as partners.
In other action the Bison were out-played by the Black Knights as Army grabbed five of six team points in the singles matches.
Junior Josh Katten picked up the only singles win for the Bison Thursday afternoon. Katten battled in his first set with Alex Holland and ended up completing his contest in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2.
Bucknell will return to play Sunday when it travels for another key Patriot League bout to Lafayette. The contest is set to begin play at 2:30 p.m.
