Eight Bucknell Men's Water Polo Players Recognized with ACWPC All-Academic Awards

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Eight Bucknell men's water polo players were recognized for their academic prowess on Friday. The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches included eight Bison in their list of All-Academic Award winners. As a team, Bucknell owns a cumulative grade-point average of 3.13, ranking 10th among all programs listed.
Student-athletes were recognized in three levels: 3.20 to 3.40 GPA (Excellent), 3.41 to 3.70 GPA (Superior) and 3.71 to 4.0 (Outstanding). Bucknell had two players recognized in the Outstanding category, three in the Superior list and three more land in the Excellent group.
Sophomore Trevor Reitz and junior Matt Napleton were listed in the Outstanding category for a second straight season, while sophomore Alex Nowlin, senior Spencer Richley and freshman Ken Wattana were part of the Superior list. Seniors Nick Barnett and Daniel Schwartz, as well as sophomore Julian Colina were part of the Excellent group.
Overall, 248 student-athletes were recognized by the ACWPC with GPAs of at least 3.2.
Bucknell finished the 2011 season with a 15-10 record. The Bison won five of their last seven games and posted their fifth above-.500 record in the last six years. Bucknell also finished in the top five at the Eastern Championship for the eighth consecutive year.
