
Bucknell Women's Tennis Loses 4-3 to Villanova

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Bison women's tennis team (2-10) headed to Villanova (2-7) Wednesday afternoon for the first of three road matches this week. Bucknell battled hard against the Wildcats but eventually fell by the score of 4-3.
Bucknell took and early 1-0 lead by taking two of three doubles matches over the Wildcats. Courtney Casey and Lydia Colvin cruised to an 8-0 win over Kirstin Gobberg and Allison Solberg.
Dumitrita Iepuras and Elizabeth Morgan won by forfeit in the No. 3 doubles slot.
In the singles bouts Bucknell took two matches over the Wildcats. Elena Vidrascu beat Solberg 6-3, 7-5. The second set went back and forth, but Vidrascu was able to maintain composure and get the victory.
Colvin earned her second win of the afternoon by defeating Kate Pettee in straight sets in the No. 4 singles contest. Colvin jumped out to an early lead in both sets and ended up winning by the score of 6-1, 6-2.
Freshman Christie Schneider nearly completed a rally to win her first set against Wesleigh Donadio but ended up losing 7-6. In the second set Donadio's experience pulled through and she won the match 7-6, 6-0.
Bucknell will travel to face Georgetown on Friday at 3 p.m. It will be the second away from home this week for the Bison.
