Bison Men's Tennis Handed 4-3 Defeat by Monmouth

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Bucknell men's tennis team came close to mounting a comeback after losing the doubles point Monday afternoon in Orlando, Fla., but eventually fell 4-3 to Monmouth. With the loss Bucknell is now 2-4 on the season, while the Hawks gain their first victory to improve to 1-4.
The men started the day with doubles partners Gregg Cohenca and Evan Zimmer winning a close No. 1 singles match. The two settled down after a jumpy start to defeat the quick duo of Freddy Marcinkowski and Carl Jedlinski by the score of 9-7.
Zimmer also won his No. 3 singles match over freshman Jedlinski in a three-set match, 4-6, 6-2, (10-2). Josh Katten recovered from his earlier doubles loss with partner Kelly Morque and managed a win at the No. 5 singles match with a 6-1, 6-1 performance over Tom Kowalski. Katten is now tied for 13th on the all-time victories list with a record of 87-61.
With several singles matches being played simultaneously, sophomore Kyle Rosen claimed victory in his match with a score of 6-4, 6-0.
The men look to return to action in Orlando, Fla., Tuesday against Siena (0-4) at 12:30 p.m. in the Fort Gatlin Recreation Complex.
