Bison Men's Tennis Suffers 4-3 Loss to St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. – The Bucknell men's tennis team nearly made a late rally after losing the doubles point but ultimately fell by a 4-3 margin for the second straight day, this time at St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon.
The Bison started the afternoon with doubles partners Gregg Cohenca and Evan Zimmer winning the No. 1 doubles match over Luis Guevara and Oscar Yanez by the score of 8-6.
Many of the matches were as close as the final score indicates. Cohenca was first to finish his singles match on the day as he was defeated by Yanez in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
Zimmer lost to Guevara in the No. 2 singles match dropping the first set 6-3, and then rallied for 6-1 victory in the second only to fall 6-3 in the third.
Before the fourth singles match was over the Bonnies had clinched the result. That didn't stop Kelly Morque, Kyle Rosen and Gregory Maxson from winning out the remaining singles matches to bring the overall team score back up to three points for the day.
Morque won in emphatic fashion in the No. 4 singles match. After losing the first set, he then fired back with a tiebreaker win in the second and cruised in the final frame, defeating freshman Miguel Suarez, 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2.
The men's team will be back in action for six matches over spring break in Orlando, Fla., starting March 12 against Monmouth. Dates, times and opponents are available at BucknellBison.com.
