LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the second time this season, Bucknell women's basketball's Lindsay Horbatuck (Avon, Conn./Avon) has been named the Susquehanna Valley Limousine Bison Athlete of the Week. The junior latest honor comes thanks to a week in which she averaged a double-double and helped the Orange and Blue to a pair of victories.
Horbatuck averaged 10.0 points and 13.0 rebounds in contests against Colgate and Lafayette last week. She also added 4.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 1.0 block per game.
The week began with one of the best rebounding performances of her career. Horbatuck grabbed 16 boards against Colgate, tying her career high. Nine of those rebounds came on the offensive glass. Horbatuck also totaled nine points, recorded three steals and dished out a career-best five assists against the Raiders.
The forward's strong week continued on Saturday at Lafayette where she earned her fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds on the road. Three steals and three assists later, Horbatuck had helped the Bison to a second consecutive win for the first time this season.
Thanks to Horbatuck's efforts, Bucknell defeated Colgate 67-45 for its first Patriot League victory of the season. The Bison also won 65-54 over Lafayette, giving them their first road win of the winter.
Horbatuck currently leads the Patriot League in rebounding (9.3), offensive rebounds (3.9) and free throw percentage (.900) this winter. She is also fourth in defensive rebounds (5.4) and field goal percentage (.516), and 20th in scoring (9.3).
The Bison Athlete of the Week honor is the second of the season for Horbatuck who received the award on Dec. 13 as well after a double-double led Bucknell to a win over Fordham. Horbatuck is also the second Bison to be recognized this week. Shelby Romine (Centreville, Va./Westfield) was voted the Patriot League Player of the Week yesterday for the first time in her career.
Bucknell will be back in action tomorrow when they take on Lehigh at 7 p.m. in Bethlehem, Pa.
