LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Joe Willman (Tinton Falls, N.J./Monmouth Regional) picked up his first career Anaconda Patriot League Player of the Week award on Monday. Willman turned in one of the best performances of his career in Saturday's 74-66 home victory over La Salle, producing 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Bucknell won the battle of one-loss teams in large part due to a terrific effort on the glass. Willman led that charge, equaling his career high with 12 rebounds. He came up with four offensive boards, each of which was a put-back resulting in points for the Bison.
Willman's 18 points marked a season high and were one shy of his career best of 19, set last season against Lehigh and Boston University. He made 9 of 13 shots from the field and also had three assists with only one turnover in 34 minutes.
Willman is now averaging 10.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game for the 9-1 Bison. He also topped the 900-point plateau against La Salle and is now just 94 points shy of 1,000 for his career.
Bucknell play at Saint Francis (Pa.) on Monday night at 7 p.m.
