UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Bucknell cross country completely its season on Friday with the men placing 13th and the women placing 12th at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships at University Park, Pa. John Dugan was named All-Region on the men's side after taking 20th individually, while Caroline Tolli led the women's squad with a 54th-place finish.
Dugan's finish in the 10-kilometer race came with a time 30:57. He was followed in the Bison lineup by Andrew Garcia-Garrison in 47th (31:31) and Charles Seigneur in 63rd (32:09). Davis Strauss and Eric Balaban rounded out the team's top five in 98th and 101st, respectively.
“I was very proud of our men today,” said head coach Kevin Donner after the meet. “Dugan ran super to make all-region and was very close to making nationals. Garcia-Garrison made a nice comeback race after a rough league meet and Seigneur ran his best-ever race. This program is set up well for the future. We just have to keep our guys healthy, but the nucleus is definitely there.”
Tolli continued to be the first Bison across the finish line with her 54th-place finish on the 6K course in 22:06. Very close behind her was younger teammate Katie Jessee. The sophomore clocked in at 22:10, good for 58th place. Deanna Godby and Hana Casalnova were 73rd and 86th, respectively, while Meghan Carroll came in with a 99th-place showing.
“It was a solid race for us,” said Donner. “Lack of front runners cost us a few spots. Jessee and Godby had great races. Tolli ended a great cross country career. Most of these ladies are middle distance runners who can't wait to get going for track and field.”
In the team standings, Bucknell's women were 12th in a field of 31, totaling 368 points. Penn State won on its home course with 61 points. On the men's side, Bucknell totaled 321 points for 13th in a field of 25 teams. Georgetown won with 56 points.
