LEWISBURG, Pa. - John Dugan (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) capped off one of the best stretches of his career as the Bucknell men's cross country runner was tabbed as the Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday. Dugan placed third at Saturday's Patriot League Championship, giving him All-League honors for the second consecutive year.
Dugan completed the eight-kilometer course in 25:39.4 at the Patriot League Championship hosted by Colgate last weekend. The finish made him the first Bison and the first non-senior from any team to cross the line.
A sophomore, Dugan has now been named All-League in each of his first two seasons in the Orange & Blue. He was also selected to the Second Team, as well as named Patriot League Rookie of the Meet, a year ago after placing 13th overall. Dugan is the first Bison to earn all-league honors in back-to-back years since Wallace Campbell did so in 2006 and 2007.
The Bison Athlete of the Week honor is the first of Dugan's career. He is also the first men's cross country runner to receive the award this season.
As a team, Bucknell placed fifth at Saturday's league meet. The Bison will return to action on Nov. 9 when they compete at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, hosted by Penn State at University Park, Pa.
