
No. 17 Bucknell Men's Water Polo Opens California Trip with 10-7 Win at No. 19 Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. –New to the national rankings this week, the No. 17 Bucknell men's water polo team opened play at the Santa Clara Rodeo Friday and defeated the host and No. 19 Broncos, 10-7. Jack Else scored a team-high three goals for the Bison, who will play four more games this weekend at Santa Clara's Sullivan Aquatic Center.
Bucknell (10-10) trailed just once in the game (1-0) and outscored Santa Clara (7-12) 6-4 in the second half. The Bison led by as many as four goals in the fourth quarter.
Nick Hale and Mike Kimble helped Else shoulder the scoring load as both scored two goals, giving the Bison three multi-goal scorers.
The victory was the second in a row over a ranked opponent for Bucknell, which has now won six of its last eight games.
The Bison will play four more games this weekend, three of which will be vs. ranked opponents. Saturday's schedule includes Cal-Baptist (12 p.m. ET) and No. 13 Air Force (5:20 p.m. ET).
