Bucknell Men's Tennis' Zimmer Advances to Main Singles Draw at ITA Regionals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Bucknell men's tennis' Evan Zimmer opened the ITA Regionals at the University of Virginia's Snyder Tennis Center on a high note, winning his qualifying singles match in straight sets over Saint Joseph's Max Montague on Thursday afternoon. Zimmer now moves into the main draw, joining Kelly Morque in singles. Zimmer is also in the doubles main draw with Josh Katten.
On Thursday, Zimmer defeated Montague 6-3, 6-4 in the second round of the qualifying draw. The Bison senior was the No. 1 seed and received a first round bye. Zimmer next faces George Mason's Jimmy Davis in the first round of the main draw.
Zimmer's career singles record now stands at 54-32. His 54 victories ties him with Asher Salam for eighth all-time at Bucknell.
Morque will square off with Aaron Chaffee of William & Mary in the first round tomorrow at 10 a.m.
The ITA Regionals resume Friday morning and continue through the weekend with the championship matches set for Monday.
