LEWISBURG, Pa. –Coach Dave Paulsen and the first-place Bucknell men's basketball program have been avid supporters of Coaches vs. Cancer and the American Cancer Society through the years, and once again next week the team will be participating in activities to raise funds and awareness for the battle against cancer.
Members of the Bison team and other volunteers will be selling Coaches vs. Cancer merchandise Monday and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. in the Elaine Langone Center Mall, and again on Wednesday at Sojka Pavilion prior to the Bucknell-American game. The team will be selling tee shirts, lanyards, and Wall of Hope certificates, and donation cards will also be available. All proceeds go directly to the American Cancer Society.
Coaches wearing sneakers with their suits has become an annual tradition across the country, and the Bucknell staff will be participating during the American game next Wednesday. Coach Paulsen is encouraging fans to take part by wearing sneakers to the game.
Coaches vs. Cancer is a nation-wide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that empowers basketball coaches, their teams, and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer. The program leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of basketball coaches nation-wide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs.
“Everyone has been touched by cancer in some way, and we just want to do our part to raise awareness and raise funds for this important cause,” said Paulsen. “The NABC has been a major supporter of Coaches vs. Cancer, and we are proud to do whatever we can. We would like to invite all fans to show their support by wearing sneakers to the game next Wednesday, and also stop by and purchase some merchandise or make a donation.”
