LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Sophomore golfer Kasha Scott (Cherry Hills Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) was named the Susquehanna Valley Limo Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday, just after her final-round 70 helped Bucknell defend its title at the Bison Invitational.
Bucknell entered the final round in a dead heat with Rutgers, and the Bison finished with a 298 compared to the Scarlet Knights' 299 to take the tournament by one stroke. Scott was the key for Bucknell, with a birdie on the 17th hole giving her team the shot it needed.
After opening with rounds of 79 and 73, Scott was remarkably consistent over the final 18 holes. She made 16 pars, one bogey and one birdie, and the bogey came at the long par-4 eighth, which was statistically the hardest hole on the course, playing well over a stroke over par.
Scott made the birdie, her team-best fifth of the weekend, on the par-4 17th, and then finished her even-par round of 70 with a six-foot putt to save par on No. 18.
Scott's previous collegiate-best round was a 72 in this event last year. Her 54-hole total of 222 put her in a two-way tie for fourth place in the 80-player field.
Scott and the Bison will be back in action in two weeks at the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wis.
